Oxfordshire County Council is at the forefront of addressing climate change and planning for a sustainable future and is the highest scoring county council in the Climate Emergency UK Scorecards. We're inviting a passionate Climate Officer to join our efforts, while the current postholder is seconded to another position. This vital new role supports our environmental initiatives and contributes to the council's sustainability goals.
About the role
In this collaborative position, you will aid in crafting the council's climate action plan, track and report on the sustainability initiatives' advancements, and work alongside various departments to weave climate considerations into their functions. You will also connect with local communities and stakeholders to foster environmental awareness and assist in the execution of climate-related projects and programs.
About you
We seek an individual with a background in environmental science, sustainability, or a related field, who has experience in climate action or environmental policy. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and project management skills, outstanding communication skills, and the ability to work in partnership with others. A passion for making a positive environmental impact is crucial.
